Andrew and Simone

These two spirits came together in Hawaii out of love and a longing to have a close relationship to the natural world. As a 5th generation local, Andrew felt a calling to return to his ancestral home as it’s in his bones. For the last 10 years, Simone and Andrew have been building a future on Superior that breeds love, community, simplicity and freedom. In an effort to preserve this land, give back and live in harmony with nature, the couple dropped a tiny trailer on the property and began the construction of what has now become one of the north shores most sought after vacation rentals. This 16’x20’ white pine timber frame cabin was their first home and was constructed as the two lived small and seasonally on the property. With friends in the right places, the couple were able to locally and sustainably source their own logs, treat them and frame the grandeur that inspires guests one stay at a time. Simone says, “we wanted to bring the outside in” referring to the wilderness views allowed by windows that frame this timber cabin from floor to ceiling. Honoring Simone’s Brazilian roots and the superior views, the cabin got it's name Água Norte, meaning “Northern Waters”.

As tiny homeowners they have pared their belongings down to the essentials, keeping only the items that truly enrich their lives. As hosts, sharing their space puts their values in perspective through connection and further defining the meaning of community. The cabin is equipped with essentials that support the local economy and offer a flavor of some the areas novel goods and services. From it’s textiles to the hand soap, every product has local roots that’s supporting a greater purpose, growth of a small business, and a commitment to a healthy community.

With countless nooks and crannies, its lofted bed and the endless trails surrounding the cabin, Água Norte encourages a child-like imagination that guides guests through a nostalgic and wholesome experience. Guests depart this tiny sanctuary with a gift of inspiration and a little bit of the earth. A stay at Água Norte gently passes on the idea that we can live smaller, simpler and slower.
